FAQ

1. What is the difference between brand SYK and TMT?

ANS:

With SYK LOGO, the bearing inside is made in JAPAN or Taiwan.
With TMT LOGO, the bearing inside is made in CHINA.

2. What are the specifications and brands of built-in bearing for the different grades of support units?

ANS:

Grades of C3, C5 and C7 correspond to the accuracy grades of ball screws.
SYK with unmarked grade is suitable for C3~C7 ball screws.
Fixed-side
SYK “unmarked grade” is built-in Taiwanese-made P5 matched pair angular contact ball bearing with zero axial play and medium pre-load.
SYK “C3” is built-in Japanese-made P5 matched pair angular contact ball bearings with zero axial play and medium pre-load.
SYK “C5” is built-in Japanese-made matched pair angular contact ball bearing with zero axial play.
For the specification from 06 ~ 08, the bearing brand is EZO with P5 class and light pre-load.
For the specification form 10 ~ 40, the bearing brand is NSK, IJK with P0 class and medium pre-load.
TMT “C7” is built-in Chinese-made P0 paired angular contact ball bearing and the axial play is within 0.02 mm.
Supported-side
SYK “C3” is attached Japanese-made deep groove ball bearing.
TMT “C7” is attached Chinese-made deep groove ball bearing.

3. What accuracy grade for ball screw is suitable for support unit of SYK and TMT?

ANS:

SYK C3 is Applied to ball screw accuracy grade C0~C7.
SYK C5 is Applied to ball screw accuracy grade C5~C7.
SYK unmarked is Applied to ball screw accuracy grade C0~C7.
TMT is Applied to ball screw accuracy grade C7.

4. What is the maximum temperature the support unit can withstand?

ANS:

The support unit can withstand a maximum temperature of 120℃

5. If the bearing of support unit is damaged, can it be replaced separately?

ANS:

The repair kit is available and it can be replaced the damaged bearing directly.
However, we recommend replacing the entire set with new ones due the tolerance of related parts.

6. What is the arrangement and combination of the bearings for the Fixed-side support unit?

ANS:

A: The bearing arrangement for fixed-side support unit is DF (Face to Face) and some fixed-side support unit can be customized with DB arrangement (Back to Back).
B: For Heavy load type support unit, the bearing arrangement of DF /DB / DFD / DFF is available.

7. How to install the Fixed-side support unit if we used the precision ground ball screw?

ANS:

The shaft end of the ground ball screw is relatively short; therefore, only one collar is required which is fitted next to the lock nut at the end.
For rolled ball screw, both end shafts are required collars.

8. Whether the product has passed the ROHS test?

ANS:

Our products are demanded as ROHS’s requirements. Relevant information can be found on website.

9. Which type of ball screw is suitable for MGD/MC nut bracket?

ANS:

MGD series is applied to European standard DIN 69051 Nut which is same as Rexroth Bosch nut bracket.
MC series is the same as THK MC nut bracket.

10. Is there any pre-load and axial play of the bearing in the Fixed-side support unit?

ANS:

SYK Fixed-side support unit are all pre-loaded with zero axial play. Light or medium preload of bearing will be made by different size.

11. How to install the ball screw support unit?

ANS:

1. For the Fixed-Supported method, generally used for automation and industrial equipment
2. For Fixed-Fixed method, generally used for high-precision automation equipment and machine tools
3. For Fixed-Free method, generally used for short ball screw equipment.

12. Why does the lock nut loosen during the operation of the equipment?

ANS:

All lock nuts are fully inspected with standard thread gauges.
Loose lock nuts are usually caused by insufficient locking force.
Or, The diameter of the pitch circle after machining the screw shaft end is too small, resulting in insufficient tooth thickness or broken tooth.

13. How to select or purchase the specification of motor bracket?

ANS:

You can use the “Purchase Guide” provided by SYK website and follow the steps as below. https://www.syk-tw.com/en/lead-buy/motor-bracket
Step 1: Select unknow brand
Step 2: select the motor flange (PCD)
Step 3: Select ball screw outer diameter (O.D.)
Step 4: Select support-side

14. Why there is no position hole in the motor bracket?

ANS:

Due to the use of calibration assembly, the accuracy is high.

15. How to collation the motor bracket?

ANS:

There is a correction surface on the side, and it is calibrated with a dial gauge to be parallel to the linear guide.

16. How to choose the axial limit load when choosing the support unit?

ANS:

There are many external factors and conditions must be considered for the axial limit (such us load capacity, speed…etc.)
Therefore, it is recommended to give a 40% off according to the axial limit value on the catalogue.

17. How to repair the integrated motor bracket if the inside bearings has been damaged?

ANS:

The repair kit is available and it can be replaced the damaged bearing directly.
